Clementine Hunter is one of the most important self-taught contemporary American artists of the 20th century. Her paintings can be seen in the Smithsonian Institution, The American Folk Art Museum, The Oprah Winfrey Collection and countless other museums. Clementine worked in the cotton fields and pecan groves at Melrose Plantation.
She painted all of her pieces out of memories from her time at Melrose Plantation. All platters, plates and mugs are hand painted and twice baked, so you can use them to serve on or eat off of. All handtowels are hand embroidered.
